After a visit to rural Ethiopia, in 2009, one image remained in Zewge Kagnew’s mind.  An image of a young child drinking dirty disease-infested water, because of the serious lack of clean water and sanitation for the villagers to use.

This dire situation needed immediate attention. Zewge decided to be part of the solution.  After many productive discussions with Eskender Tamrat, came the inception of Clean Water for Rural Ethiopian Villages. 

Thus came Stream of Hope INC, Clean water for Ethiopian Villages.

Seven Ethiopian-Americans living in Dallas, Houston, and Oklahoma, put their heads together with great determination, to create awareness and engage the larger community to help address the issue without delay.

When you donate to Stream of Hope Inc., nearly 100% of your donation goes toward water projects in rural Ethiopia. Our board members and administrative help are all volunteers. There are no salaries. We invest nearly every donated dollar to help improve the lives of girls and families in needy rural communities in Ethiopia.

So far, we have completed nineteen projects in the 4 regions of Ethiopia, which included 17 villages with Wells and spring expansion systems and two school wells where children can enjoy clean water at school and carry this vital necessity home to their families after a day of learning.
